7 days from $9,895
Our partner, WM Outfitting, located in Canada near the town of La Crete in Alberta, where they also has their extensive hunting areas. Here, we offer hunting for the elusive wolf and coyote from November to February. Our partner has many years of experience in hunting North American wildlife species, and their success rate has been consistently high over the past years.
Taking down a North American wolf is a significant challenge and requires patience for it to be successful. They come in various colors and sizes and can weigh up to 175 pounds. A wolf over 120 pounds is considered quite large.
The hunting takes place from isolated hunting towers equipped with a small stove to keep warm in these extreme temperatures, which can drop as low as -25 degrees Celsius (-13 degrees Fahrenheit).
The wolves are shot at bait sites strategically placed in the area, where leftover meat from local butchers is regularly placed to lure these very elusive wolves out of the vast forests. Wolves possess an extraordinary sense of hearing and smell, making them an even more unique hunting trophy. The bait site is typically positioned 200 to 300 meters away from the hunting tower to prevent the wolves from detecting your presence.
It requires a lot of patience and mental strength to sit in a hunting tower for 6 days, from sunrise to sunset, but if you're willing to dedicate the necessary time and remain attentive, your chances of getting a shot at a wolf are very good. This hunt is not for everyone, and hunters should be mentally prepared to invest the hours it takes to shoot a wolf.
Sometimes, a wolf is shot on the first day, while other times it might be on the last day, so it's crucial to be ready and prepared at all times.
The recommended caliber for wolf hunting, as advised by our partner, is the .270 Winchester Magnum. However, anything from .243 and above works well, as long as a cartridge with sufficient knockdown power is selected. Wolves are resilient creatures with a unique will to survive, so any wolf that is hit incorrectly or with a small caliber is difficult to locate.
Our wolf and coyote hunts take place in northern Alberta. The wolf and coyote population here is abundant, and the hunting is based from camps situated around this vast hunting area.
