Crocodile hunting in Zimbabwe

At the beginning of October, we also had clients with Roger Whittall Safaris in Save Valley Conservancy, Zimbabwe. The goal of the trip was to take down a crocodile, which we accomplished on day 4. The time leading up to that was spent laying bait (dead baboons and entrails from downed buffalo) in the river and a large lake. Along the way, we saw a buffalo that was wounded from a fight with another buffalo. The game scout allowed us to take it down, so that was of course a huge experience. During our 7-day stay in Save Valley, we saw plenty of buffalo and elephants, leopards, and black rhinos. Another great experience was one morning, on our way out for a hunt, when we encountered a pack of wild dogs. The area where Roger Whittall Safaris hunts spans almost 40,000 hectares, and with the always flowing river – Turgwe (a tributary of the Save River) – the wildlife density is truly exceptional. You are constantly amazed by what lies around the next bend when you’re in the hunting vehicle or quietly tracking in an area with the BIG-5. An unparalleled experience.
