Scientific Name: Tayassu pecari
Subspecies: Five subspecies have been described, but it is not relevant to deal with them below.
Distribution: From Veracruz (Mexico) to northern Argentina.
Habitat: See Collared Peccary.
Description: New world pig, weighing up to 40 kg and measuring around 60 cm over the shoulder, reaching a total body length of around 1,20 m. General colour greyish brown, with a less marked collar than that of the Collared Peccary.
Hunting method: Stalking, with beaters and dogs.
