Scientific Name: Hemedragus jemlahicus

Distribution: Introduced into New Zealand in 1904 from English parks.
Habitat: Mountain forest with open areas between 1.200 to 1.600 meters.
Description: The Tahr weighs up to 100 kg and measures up to 1.10 m over the shoulder. It may reach a total body length of 1,20 meters without tail (10 cm). General colour brown to greyish brown with a large mane of a lighter colouration. The horns are relatively small, thick at their base and bent backwards.
