Scientific Name: Helarctos malayanus

Distribution: Southern China over Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, Kampuchea, Malaysia, Sumatra and Borneo.
Habitat: Moist and dry evergreen forests, but also regions with rocky outcrops.
Description: Relativesly small bear weighing up to 65 kg and measuring up to 70 cm over the shoulder. It reaches a total body length of 1.40 m without tail (10 cm). General colour black with pinkish-white markings on the chest and face.
Hunting method: Stalking, from a hide, with dogs.
