Scientific Name: Ozotoceros bezoarticus
Subspecies: 1. Brasilian Pampas Deer (Ozotoceros b. Bezoarticus): Central Brazil until Uruguay. 2. Chaco Pampas Deer (Ozotoceros b. Leucogaster): Chaco region in Brazil, Paraguay, Northwestern Argentina. 3. Argentine Pampas Deer (Ozotoceros b. Celer): Eastern Uruguay, Coastal Region in Argentina, Buenos Aires Province and the San Luis provinse.
Habitat: Forested lowlands and Pampas, shrubby areas.
Description: Medium sized deer weighing around 80 kg. It measures up to 75 cm over the shoulder and reaches a total body length of max. 175 cm. General colour pale rufous with whitish underparts. The antlers are slender and "Sika-like", with up to six points.
Hunting method: Stalking, on horseback and driven hunt.
