Scientific Name: Vulpes rueppeli
Subspecies: A total of six subspecies have been described, but due to uncertainty of their individual status, we do not include them here.
Distribution: Arabian Peninsula, Iraq, Iran, western Afghanistan, western Pakistan.
Habitat: Semi-deserts, open woodland and steppe up to 1,500 m.
Description: Small fox weighing aroun 4,5 kg and measuring around 35 cm over the shoulder, reaching a total body length of 50 cm, without tail (40 cm). General colour pale reddish fawn, white tip to tail and rather large ears.
Hunting method: With dogs, snares.
