Distribution: Southern parts of the Andes, from Chile to Argentina.
Habitat: Dense forest, swampy areas with tall grass, savanna to 4.000 m.
Description: The smallest deer in the world, weighing only 8 kg. It measures up to 35 cm over the shoulder and reaches a total body length of 60 cm, without tail. The antlers are small and pointed.
Hunting method: Illegal hunt with dogs.
