However, we follow the classification of Grubb and Groves from 1982, where the Philippine Sambar is an individual species with 4 1. Cervus m. nigellus: Western Mindanao. 2. Cervus m. francianus: Mindanao. 3. Cervus m. barandanas: The Mindoro Islands. 4. Cervus m. mariannus: The Luzon Islands, introduced on the Caroline Islands.
