Distribution: Restricted area along the northern border of Argentina, Uruguay and Bolivia.

Description: New world pig, weighing up to 45 kg and measuring around 70 cm over the shoulder, reaching a total body length of 1,20 m, without tail. This is the largest of the 3 Peccaries described here. General colour greyish brown with long bristles all over the body.
Hunting method: Stalking, with beaters and dogs.
Hunting available in: The population has decreased dramatically due to excessive hunting by the locals, as the peccaries are their main source of meat.
