Scientific Name: Capreolus capreolus
Subspecies: Due to uncertainty of their individual status, we do not include any of the subspecies here.
Distribution: In the Holarctic-Asian region only found in Turkey, Kurdistan and Trans Kaucasus.
Habitat: The Roe Deer is very adaptable and is found in all kinds of habitat.
Description: Medium sized deer weighing up to 40 kg and measuring up to 70 cm over the shoulder. It reaches a total body length of 1,05 m. General colour reddish brown in summer and greyish in winter. The white rump is conspicuous in winter. The antlers usually have up to six points, but may have more or less.
Hunting method: Stalking, lying in wait, driven hunt and with luring calls towards the end of the rut (beginning of August).
