Distribution: Blue Wildebeest: Zimbabwe, Zambia, Mozambique, South Africa and Namibia. Whitebearded Wildebeest: Tanzania and Kenya Cookson's Wildebeest: Luangwa Valley in Zambia.
Habitat: Found in all kinds of Bush, but prefers open grassy plains with thorny bushes.
Description: Only Blue Wildebeest is descriped here as the difference between it and the other two supspecies is minimal. The Blue Wildebeest is a big animal of the Gnu-family, and weighs upto 300 kg with a shoulderheight of upto 140 cm. General colour dull slaty grey. The horns are similar to the horns of the Buffalo, only much smaller.
