Scientific Name: Babirussa babyrussa

Distribution: Celebes (Sulawesi), Togian Islands, Sulu Islands and Buru Islands.
Habitat: Jungle and swamps.
Description: Large pig-like animal, peculiar in the fact that both upper and lower canines grow enormously throughout the life of the animal. The canines grow upwards and backwards towards the nose, forming a semi-circle. The Babirusa weighs up to 100 kg and measures up to 80 cm over the shoulder. It may reach a total body length of almost 1 meter.
Hunting method: The locals use traps and pitt-falls.
