There are few other places in the world, if any, where so many wild fallow deer gather together as in this district in western Romania.
Although the permanent population in these forests is only usually around 200 to 300 animals, the rutting grounds found in the heart of this district attract around 2,000 head of fallow deer during late October and early November.
