Nyakolwe is a game-rich district in the Luangwa Valley east of Nyamvu. The district spreads over 120.000 ha and runs along a 60 km stretch of the River Luangwa. The most important species here are roan and leopard and there are also good populations of, Lichtenstein’s hartebeest, Chobe bushbuck, kudu, lion, crocodile and hippo. In particular the buffalo hunting here is really something special! The camp is one of the best in Luangwa, it is beautifully situated on the banks of the river.
The hunt takes place from the early morning to the late evening, of course pausing for lunch around midday, either under the shadow of a tree in the bush or, if preferred, back home in the camp
Normally, the hunt is carried out with 1PH to 1 hunter, but it is also possible to choose to hunt 2:1 if you wish to share the experience. Kwalata’s hunting districts are large, therefore 4WD vehicles are used to get around the district. Hunting takes the form of Spot and Stalk, but if you prefer an “Old Style” safari on foot, that is of course also possible.
