The terrain varies enormously, from semi-desert in the north-east to open plains in the north, from extensive swamps in the north west to miombo forest in the south. This contrasting landscape provides ideal conditions for a wealth of interesting game species. Tanzania is famous for excellent hunting and first class trophies.
The beautiful, but dry, Masailand has been one of the big game hunter’s favorite destinations for decades. Lake Natron (South West) is perhaps scenically the most beautiful and varied hunting district in Tanzania. The district stretches from The Great Rift Valley in the south, which borders the highlands of the N’goro n’goro crater, out over the fantastic landscape of open savannah, which here is dominated by the Masai’s holy mountain “O’ldonyo Lengai”, an active volcano nearly 3,000m high. This impressive mountain lies close to another volcano “Kiserian”.
The savannah can is home to a rich fauna, including many antelopes. The terrain slopes gently down to the shores of Lake Natron. This impressive salt lake is 56km long and 24km wide, and is the most important breeding area for the Lesser Flamingo in East Africa, with around 2.5 million individuals of this species here. From here the concession stretches northwards along the west bank of the lake all the way up to the Kenyan border.
This rich, varied, landscape with it’s spectacular view, beautiful waterfall, the steep edges of the Rift Valley, dense forest, endless savannah, golden soda “flats” and the lake’s pink flamingos are also very attractive to non-hunting guests.
In this concession there are good populations of all the typical Masailand game species such as lesser kudu, gerenuk, fringed eared oryx, Grant’s -, Robert’s- and Thomson gazelle, Chandler’s mountain reedbuck, Bohor reedbuck, East African impala, Kirk’s dik-dik, Coke’s hartebeest, klipspringer and Masai bushbuck. The district also has enormous leopards, good buffalo and even some really good, varied wing shooting.
Lake Natron is only a few hours drive from Arusha, and after your safari you can also visit the nearby National Parks: the Serengeti, Ngorongoro. Lake Manyara and Tarangire.
All camps are built in typical East African style. They are all beautifully situated, very comfortable and offer roomy, insect proofed tents (double), with wonderful beds and bed linen, dressing table, clothes racks, shelves and chairs. There is also a private shower and toilet with hot and cold running water in all tents. There is also a cosy “mess tent” for dining and...

Huge areas of open savannah, dense forest and a great range of altitude give the district it’s wild character and...
